Facade Improvement Program

Old Town District

As a solution to the deterioration of the Old Town District, the urban renewal plan proposed to "develop an aesthetic treatment toward the streetscape and other infastructure elements, " as well as "to preserve architecturally significant structures." It is with these principles in mind that the facade improvement program was created. The program is a partnership with the City of Cincinnati, CNBDU and the Clifton Heights Business Association which provides a grant for 50/50 matching funds for qualified improvements. This program attempts to make it more financially feasible for either a small business owner or property owner to make necessary renovations.

The primary goals of the program are to:

  • Enable the preservation and enhancement of historically and architecturally significant buildings.
  • Retain the districts historic character in order to develop a sense of place that is vital to the economic revitalization of the area.
  • Increase market value and demand within the business district.
  • Retain and assist local businesses while at the same time providing an inviting atmosphere for potential new retail opportunities.
